About Us

David Soppitt is a Chartered Architect, holding both RIBA and RIAS Membership with over 25 years experience.

Educated at Edinburgh College of Art ( then part of Heriot Watt University) and on exchange at Rhode Island School of Design, David has long held an interest in the traditional vernacular architecture of Perthshire, his degree project being a study of vernacular architecture in Pitlochry.

Established in Perth in 2001, the Architectural Design Practice moved to Bankfoot on the edge of Highland Perthshire in 2010, ideally placed to serve Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Aberfeldy and Blairgowrie, as well as Crieff, Comrie and the City of Perth.

The Practice has specialised in Domestic Architecture from the outset taking on a workload consisting of:

Bar and restaurant design, Hotel design and refurbishment, Retail design, Housing developments of 50+ houses, Healthcare & Car dealerships.

Style

We work in sympathy with the landscape and the local traditional architecture.

In continuing a tradition, with room for individual expression, the practice seeks to maintain and improve this balance and retain a regional identity.

Sustainability

We utilise environmentally conscious design techniques and seek to minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings.

We build almost exclusively in timber frame, which is energy efficient, sustainable, and economical.
